Heatwave Photographic Studios has a vacancy for an Apprentice Photographer in Randburg to start a.s.a.p. This is a junior position, ideally suited to a young person between the ages of 20-25. This is an opportunity to learn photographic skills from a professional photographer. It includes learning and developing the skills to become experienced in photography and the business side. Photographic Apprenticeships are scarce, and this is an excellent opportunity to learn in a hands on environment through on-the-job training.
Should your application be successful, you will be taught how to do:
Editing of photos (single and batches),
Photography (use of equipment, lighting etc.)
Sales and cold calling,
Admin, assisting on shoots, post production, research, etc.
There will be a three month contract/probation period, after which you will be employed for a minimum of a year on a permanent basis.
Accepting this position means that you cannot do any freelance work or photographic editing work outside of the Heatwave business. Once you are competent in different genres of photography, you will start doing photography for clients.
The starting salary is a basic of R4000 per month. Upon commencement of the position, we will agree on a sales target, and you will earn commission on work you bring in.
Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
Vibrant and energetic with a desire to learn.
Self starter who doesn't need to be micro managed.
Strong personality with a love of sales and business growth.
Neat and presentable.
Own camera equipment will be an advantage, but not a necessity.
Working knowledge of Photoshop and Lightroom.
Previous sales experience will be an advantage.
Some photographic experience, whether it be formal training, or informal experience.
The willingness and ability to work odd hours if need be.
